"Homecoming" is a collection of six stories set in rustic Nigeria. The book delves into the value of hard work and the determination to succeed in life without resorting to cutting corners. From the main story that gave the book its title, to the tumultuous homecoming for little Eze in 'Clash of Cluture', readers can expect a good read filled with drama and suspense.

If you're looking for the next great African novel, like Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie's "Half a Yellow Sun", this is not it. Not because it's not good -
because it is! - but simply because it's a small book - just 60-something
pages, consisting of six short stories. The reason for reading it is different.

Because, in spite of the differences, "Homecoming" really has something in
common with Adichie's books - a certain "dialect", a tone of voice, that from
my foreign perspective may well be "Nigerian" (I don't like to use the word
"African" since Nigeria is but a small part of that immense continent).
You feel at once that this is written neither by an Englishman nor an
American, just like you can sense that a book by Arundhati Roy is written by
an Indian writer, and not a European or a Chinese.
I'm not a scientist, hardly even an amateur linguist, but I still sense the
difference - and its quite thrilling...

Some of the stories in this book are quite short; one is just two pages. The
opening story, "Culture Clash", and the last one - the title story - are a bit
longer, and also the best of the collection, even though they are all quite
beautiful.

The title story I feel could have been a foundation for a much longer story,
maybe even a novel. It's the story about Peter (the son of a legendary beauty
and her much plainer, maybe even quite ugly, husband) and his Indian
colleague. The pair are a couple of such well-rounded, interesting characters
that you actually feel a bit disappointed when the story ends.

"Culture clash", which opens the collection, is quite different. Here, you find a culture clash between cultures that I think are particular for the "Old World", where modern technology haven't made much of an impact.
The younger generation, from the cities, live more or less as people from any
city in the world. But the old people, in the countryside, live by the old
rules, where "reality" may not mean the same thing as in the city.
The idea may not be new, but in this story, the author has taken it to a new
level. Maybe a version of this story could be written for any country, the
world over, but not with such sharpness and clarity.
